I have long hair thats down to my elbows. Its very very thick and its wavy.Its also very heavy,it cant hold a curl for more than a couple of hairs..

I usually blow-dry and straighten it everyday except for sunday when I just put it in a bun.

What are some cute hairstyles I can try besides the usual one.

try going to the hair dresser and get your hair thinned. i have struggled with thick hair also, getting it thinned can make it much more fun and flexible.

How about doing plaits, bunches, pony tail, half pony tail.Or curling it.

Or you could see about getting layers and/or a fringe.

Having layers will make your hair lighter and a little thinner not too thin.

Conditioner it everyday, shampoo it AND conditioner it every other day... Conditioner really lightens hair up.

How about you try getting cut in a different style, like a bob or have it angled around your face? If you don't want it cut, then you could try braiding it for something different.

what ive learned is its so volumonous it looks best down and free! but if you want to do a hairstyle try a side part or getting side swept bangs, french braids rock on this kind of hair too.

get a brush, some bobby pins , some hairties and any other products u use and expeiriment!

There are alot of cute headbands out right now. My daughter's hair is like that. She had it thinned out a little. It made it not so heavy so she can now sleep on rollers and it will stay curled in the morning.

What about braiding a small piece on each side and then combine it in the back. You can also do a small braid on each side that lies on top of the hair. French braid a piece starting on one side framing the face to the other side leaving the rest long. Pull some back on both sides into a pony tail. Use a hair clip taking the hair from the pony tail right above it.

My hair is the EXACT same way, except my is really really curly. I usually put it in a loose bun with pieces of curls out. Or I put it in two braids with a side slick.

you have hair like mine. get it cut to your bra strap with a blunt cut to your ears and long layers through the top section. then wash it and condition it well, use a good serum, brush it and leave it to dry naturally. you'll be amazed how much of a natural curl you'll end up with. just remember not to brush it when it is dry, cos you'll get a frizz. at night give it a good brush and tie it in the tightest plait you can do and the next day you should have rippling waves, that way you dont have to wash it if you dont want to, and it saves ages doing your hair.

You might want to go and have it thinned out and maybe have a few layers put in it. Maybe with it being so bulky with the thickness that might be a reason it doesn't hold curl because there is so much hair there to hold curl.
