Why in India, yogis keep long hair and in China, all monks are bald?

Some people say that the long hair represent the connection with Cosmos.

I wonder, why in India people keep long hair, like Sikhs, for example, and yogis.

But at the same time, Chinese monks are all bald, they specially remove their hair.

In Russian churches you will not find bald priests, most of them have very long hair.

And those, who just joy monasteries also have beard and don't cut their hair.

What do you think about this? How it happens in your country?

Thank you for your answers!

i dont know about the others but i think chinese monks are bald because they are buddhists...and buddhists concepts rely on not needing the material world. they must ignore all desires (depending on the type of buddhism) so no pain...no game. they are bald to repersent they can endure the pain of plucking out hairs. and monks also have those "dots" on thier head...each dot repersents wisdom? its something like that.....might not be 100% accurate.

Different cultures different beliefs, just like christanity they find different ways they worship jesus and have sub-categories of christans. So i suppose over time the traditions of the meditating stuck but the culture of the people and different influences on them like Hindu influence in india and budist and confusious in china, so i suppose they just separated from what different branches of meditating.

interesting question; the long hair in India (as contained with Sikh community as well) is a part of long-tradition in the belief that the body is immaterial and it's the soul called "atman" that undergoes reincarnations eveytime

as for the Buddhists, being bald is seen as a part of celibacy and lifelong chastisement because hair is an unclean area.
